Cheesecake fans will fall madly in LOVE with Cream Cheese Pie! Once you try it, you’ll never order a slice of cheesecake again.

This post is all about how to make insanely delicious Cheese Pie, NOT Cheesecake.
I am here to tell you that this is honestly one of the best desserts I have ever served, and people always want the recipe. This dessert post is a tribute to my grandmother (Noni), who shared and made this recipe for decades for all of her family and friends. She recently passed away, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor her legacy. She loved cooking, entertaining, and having fun!
If you’ve always enjoyed a slice of cheesecake, then I cannot imagine you wouldn’t quickly become OBSESSED with this cheese pie. It’s creamier than cheesecake, less dense, easier to make, and tastes way better, too.
Check out the simple step-by-step recipe below. I highly recommend making this recipe the day before so it has enough time to chill. However, I have made this pie plenty of times on the day of serving. But I know it tastes out of this world if chilled properly. Enjoy!

How To Make Cream Cheese Pie, Step-by-Step

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2: Place the graham crackers in a gallon-sized plastic bag. Seal the bag. Begin mashing the crackers up with a rolling pin. Do this until the crackers have a sand-like appearance.

Step 3: Add two teaspoons of sugar to the plastic bag and shake.
Step 4: Empty the bag into a 9-inch pie plate.
Step 5: Pour the melted butter into the plate.

Step 6: With a fork, mix the butter and crackers and begin forming the crust. Use the flat bottom of a glass cup to form and smooth the crust’s sides and bottom.

Step 7: Bake the crust for 5 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Step 8: Place the baked crust on a cooling rack while you make the cream cheese filling.
Step 9: Combine the eggs, sugar, cream cheese, and vanilla extract into a mixing bowl.
Step 10: Beat like mad (humor from my mom!) using a stand or hand mixer.

Step 11: Add the filling to the graham cracker crust and bake the pie for 20 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Step 12: Cool the pie completely on a wire rack.

Step 13: Add the sour cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a small bowl and mix until smooth.
Step 14: After the cheese pie has cooled, add the sour cream topping and refrigerate for at least 6 hours before serving.

To the Cheese Pie Queen, may you rest in peace. Mary Ellen Nieman (Noni) 10/29/1932 – 12/4/2025

FAQs
Should I buy a brick of Philadelphia cream cheese for this recipe?
Honestly, I think you could purchase any brand, and it would be delicious. But food experts have said that Philadelphia cream cheese is hands down the best-tasting.
Honestly, what is the difference between cheese pie and cheesecake?

Final Thoughts On Noni’s Cream Cheese Pie
This cream cheese pie recipe is the best, and I can’t think of a better dessert to share with the people you love. This pie calls for more cream cheese than similar cheese pie recipes, but that’s also why it’s the best one out there.
