It is the perfect breakfast hybrid where the croissant meets the waffle. Introducing easy and delicious Croffles!
This post is all about how to make Croissant Waffles, also known as Croffles.
Flaky, crispy, and delicious are just a few adjectives to describe what it’s like to bite into a croissant waffle. So, what exactly is a croffle?
Basically, it’s croissant dough baked in a waffle maker. It will resemble a waffle when it’s finished cooking, but the buttery layers of pastry dough ensure it tastes like a flaky croissant.
This recipe is also so EASY, and you’ll only need a can of Pillsbury crescent dough and some white granulated sugar. Stuffing the croissant waffle with chocolate chips, peanut butter, bananas, cheese, or bacon crumbles is entirely up to you!
Adding powdered sugar, butter, maple syrup, and fresh fruit to the top of the croffles is highly recommended. Check out the simple recipe below!
Croissant Waffles (AKA Croffles!)
Two Ingredients Needed:
- Pillsbury Grands! Crescent Rolls (One can includes 8 rolls, which will make 8 croffles.)
- White Granulated Sugar – rolling the croissant dough in sugar will give it a beautiful and delicious golden brown exterior once baked.
- Chocolate Chips (optional) – I stuffed some of my croffles with semi-sweet chocolate chips, which was yummy.
Equipment You’ll Need:
- Small Bowl (for the sugar)
Optional Toppings:
- Fresh Fruit or Jam
How To Make Croissant Waffles (AKA Croffles!), Step-By-Step
Step 1: Open the can of Pillsbury Crescent rolls and pull apart each triangle of dough into eight separate pieces. There are perforated lines, so it’s easy to divide.
Step 2: Decide now if you’re adding chocolate chips. If so, place one tablespoon of chocolate chips on the wide end of each piece of croissant dough. I made four plain croffles and four stuffed with chocolate chips.
Step 3: Roll the crescent dough into the shape of a croissant. If you added chocolate chips, stretch the dough as you roll to ensure the chocolate is enclosed in the croissant.
Step 4: Cover each croissant in white sugar. I added each one to the bowl of sugar and rolled it around to ensure it was coated on all sides.
Step 5: Preheat the waffle maker to medium heat. Spray the waffle maker before baking each croffle. A regular-sized waffle maker will bake two croffles at a time.
Step 6: Close the lid to the waffle maker and check the croffles after three minutes. They should look golden brown.
